Surgical Procedures

From relatively simple spays , neuters, and declaws to orthopedic and exploratory procedures, taking your pet in for surgery can be stressful for you and your furry friend. When your pet is a member of your family, you want to be assured that it receives the same level of care that you would want.

CAMC provides the highest level of care possible during surgical procedures, going above and beyond the care provided by many other vets.

Laser Surgery: Surgery with high-tech lasers is becoming more and more common in both humans and pets, and offers many advantages over traditional surgery techniques, including less bleeding, swelling, and postoperative pain. That's why our doctors prefer to perform most surgeries with our Accuvet CO2 laser. Ask if laser surgery is right for your pet.

Anesthesia: We use only Sevoflurane or Isoflurane anesthesia, the safest gas anesthesia available. All surgeries use extensive anesthesia monitoring to reduce complications, including ECGs to measure heart electrical activity, and a pulse oximeter to measure heart rate and blood oxygen concentration. Pets are also kept warm to reduce the chances of anesthesia-related hypothermia, using water blankets, heating bags, warming tables, magnetic mats, and a physiothermic surgery room.

Besides the high-tech equipment we use to monitor your pet during surgery, they are also closely observed by a trained pet nurse during and after their surgery. Nothing beats the human touch in evaluating pet health.

Blood Pressure Monitoring: Blood pressure is critical to your animal's health and well-being at all times, but especially during surgery. CAMC uses non-invasive techniques to monitor blood pressure during surgery, which allows us to quickly respond to issues and provide appropriate treatment.
